Fans of The Young and the Restless were devastated when Justin Hartley left the show and seemed to take his character of Adam Newman with him when he was seemingly killed in an explosion, but I Hartley has his way, some of his co-stars could eventually join him on his new primetime gig, This Is Us.

Hartley's new gig, which has so far been successful as the show was given a full season order after only airing its premiere episode, did lead to him leaving the CBS soap because of the scheduling difficulties. However, he isn't thoroughly ready to leave the soap world behind, and has admitted that he would love to welcome some of his former Y&R co-stars to have roles on This Is Us-especially Eric Braden, who portrayed his on-screen father Victor Newman.

In an interview with Glamour, Hartley revealed that he'd love to have Braden on the show in some capacity, because of the chemistry they had off-screen as scene partners.

"He could be my dad's dad! Milo's [Ventimiglia] dad!" He said of the possibility and who Braden could play. "[Eric]'s a good guy. We hit it off right away. I think I made him laugh, which he wasn't expecting. Our characters hated each other and Adam wanted to dethrone his father, He wants all the power. We would go at it in scenes together! He gets loud and I do, too. And then afterwards we'd laugh and tell jokes. [Eric and I] got along great. He's got to come on This Is Us. He should watch it and do commentary! He should live tweet our show! That'd be awesome!"

Hartley also discussed the sometimes negative reactions people seem to have when they learn of his soap opera past, and admitted that while questions about it can occasionally come off in an offensive manner, he doesn't let it get to him in such a way.

"No, [Although] I have friends that [that term] really annoys them, People will come up and say-and it is insulting--'Do you ever want to do anything else? Like some real acting? Or a real show?' Here's the thing: You can either get upset about that, or you can realize that that person isn't trying to offend you. They're literally interested, and they're asking you a question," he said. "I know when people are trying to insult me. That's not an insult. That's just someone being ignorant-they don't know. They're being sweet. And, of course, there are people that will say, 'I hears you were on this, but I don't watch it.'It's like, 'OK, that's OK too.' But no, I don't get upset about it. It comes with the territory, and there are worse things. I love acting, and so whenever I get the opportunity to act, I'm happy. I'm easy to please when it comes to that kind of stuff. I don't know what I'd do without it."

This Is Us airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on NBC. The Young and the Restless airs Monday-Friday at 12:30 p.m. on CBS.
