"Injustice 2" may still be in beta but it already received an update that offers new playable character. It was revealed by the game developer NetherRealm Studios that the update is live now and it will introduce Black Canary to the list of characters in the game.

"Injustice 2" is the newest combat title published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and it is set to debut on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on May 16. Not long after the official launch, the game is expected to be released for Android and iOS as well.

The release date has been confirmed by NetherRealm via its official Twitter account. "It's happening! The launch date for Injustice 2 in the Americas!," the studio tweeted. The announcement was posted with a poster bearing the date 05.16.17 so the May release is certain.

Players of "Injustice 2" who were able to sign up for the online beta version can play the Black Canary character by simply downloading the beta update. It is important to note that the file size is 329.9 MB so there should be enough space for it before download.

Black Canary is the newest superheroine to be added in the dozen of characters in the game. GameSpot reported that other verified "Injustice 2" playable characters include Harley Quinn, Wonder Woman, Superman, The Flash, Supergirl, Blue Beetle, Batman, Robin, Deadshot, Atrocitus, Gorilla Grodd and Aquaman.

Meanwhile, the Swamp Thing character is also arriving at the game. The confirmation for this character came shortly after Black Canary was announced. As of the moment, the addition of this humanoid-plant hybrid hero brings the roster to 19 confirmed playable characters.

It is highly likely that Swamp Thing has been added to "Injustice 2" after it emerged as the most requested character in the poll set up by NetherRealm creative director Ed Boon. Placing second in the poll that was posted last year was "Blue Beetle."
