The friendship between The Voice coaches Alicia Keys and Gwen Stefani might rival that of fellow coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton.

Much has been made over the years about Levine and Shelton's friendship/rivalry on The Voice, but it looks like Keys and Stefani could give them a run for their money. The two female coaches discuss their relationship in a new behind-the-scenes clip from the upcoming 12th season of The Voice.

"I am crazy excited about Gwen joining this season. That's my friend," Keys says, with affection. "She is such a beautiful soul, and I love her style and her kindness and her sweetness. She's a very, very genuine person."

"Alicia is unbelievably inspiring," Stefani adds, in return. "She has a spirit and an energy to her that just has an impact, and she's just full of goodness. There's been a lot of love and lots of laughing."

This is Keys' second season with The Voice, and she's coming off a very successful debut season. She was able to get Wé McDonald, one of her singers, all the way to the finale, coming in third place. This is Stefani's third season, previously appearing in seasons 7 and 9. She got Jeffrey Austin to the finale in season 9, coming in fourth place.

The clip also features Levine and Shelton teasing each other and making jabs at the other's expense, though as always, it's all in good fun. Shelton explains in the clip that there is a special chemistry among this combination of coaches in season 12 like never before.

"No matter how much grief we give each other on television, there's a lot of love between the four of us," Shelton says. "This combination of coaches is not like any other. There's a bond here that is unexplainable."

The Voice season 12 premieres Monday, Feb. 27 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
