The weapon was not a real gun. It was just a pellet gun.

In a RadarOnline exclusive report, a friend of Jeremy Renner claimed that he shot a firearm at the ceiling of his home while threatening to commit suicide.

The "Avengers" actor denied all claims. In a court filing dated October 25, Renner said that his friend, Lily Faget, is lying about what she saw in his home. He said that in November 2018, he was in his home, but he denied shooting a firearm into the ceiling and threatening to blow his brains out.

Jeremy Renner said that the weapon in question was merely a pellet gun. He also expressed his lack of serious intent to hurt himself or commit suicide. The terrible event, as he described it, only took place after Faget came to his home, intoxicated. She was invading his personal space and was, in fact, very annoying.

In the new documents that RadarOnline was able to obtain, Renner said that he began to tell Faget about feeling so alone as if nobody was there to listen to him. Lily, he claimed, kept talking about things he no longer understood. Then, in a dramatic yet stupid moment, he picked up a pellet gun and took a shot to scare the cranes that kept eating the fish in his koi pond.

Renner then told Faget that if she wouldn't listen to him, he might as well blow his brains out.

He further wrote in the legal document that there was, in no way, that he would do that to himself.

"It was not a serious threat," Renner said.

The court filing was made as part of the bitter battle for child custody between Jeremy Renner and his ex-wife, Sonny Pancheco. Both of them are seeking full legal and physical custody of their daughter, Ava, who is only six.

At the moment, the parents are sharing joint and legal custody.

Renner has already alerted the judge, to whom the custody file is under, that he had gotten rid of the pellet gun. He also promised that such incident will not happen again. It is in his sincerest desire to gain custody of his daughter despite the negative actions that he has taken in the past weeks.

The next hearing for the custody case is scheduled on November 7, 2019. This time, the competing requests to modify the current custody set-up is expected to be discussed. Both are hopeful that the court would make a decision in favor of their request.

Renner clarifying the incident would hopefully help the judge make a decision in his favor.
