The very first photo from the upcoming season of BBC One's Sherlock has now surfaced, as the popular British series gears up for the premiere of its third season.

The current installment of Empire Magazine features an image of Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch) standing alongside his friend Watson (Martin Freeman) in front of a door to apartment 221B.

Last week, the show's producers Steven Moffat, Mark Gatiss, and Sue Vertue were all in San Diego for its fourth annual Comic-Con convention. The creatives debuted brand new footage from episode 2 of the upcoming season, which gave the audience a glance at what's to come.

Although Cumberbatch and Freeman couldn't be present at the respective event, they both sent video of themselves acknowledging the fans.

Moffat recently dished to Entertainment Weekly on how the episodes are coming along.

"We've done two. But we've now got a small gap - a small gap? A large gap! - while Martin (Freeman) goes back to New Zealand to film a bit more of the Hobbit and then he'll return to us," he said.
