Jesse Williams is not closing his doors for another appearance in "Grey's Anatomy."

For 12 seasons, Williams became a fan favorite, especially since his character established a heartfelt but tumultuous love story with a trauma surgeon, April Kepner. The characters' parts ended in May 2021 when the duo moved to Boston in the series.

Nearly a year after his stint concluded, the 40-year-old actor appeared in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, where he shared that he never ruled out his potential return to the show.

"I'd consider it," Williams said. "He still exists in the world of the show. So, yeah, it's totally a possibility," he said.

He then commented on Jackson and April's relationship status, saying that the characters are meant for each other and currently dating, for sure.

"Grey's Anatomy" is yet to confirm whether it would give a spotlight on Dr. Jackson Avery again. But for now, Williams is busy portraying baseball star Darren Lemming's character in the Broadway show "Take Me Out." The flick will premiere on April 4, with its previews to be released in March.

Commenting on his character, he told "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" that he feels terrified whenever his character needs to have on-stage nudity. Still, he sees it as a challenge to improve himself and his skills.

"I'm looking to be challenged in new ways. To be scared and excited, to be pushed. One of the beautiful things about the job that I've had for so long is the comfort it creates. So, I'm excited to do something new," he went on.

Jesse Williams Played a Huge Role in Making "Grey's Anatomy" a Hit Series

Before leaving "Grey's Anatomy," Williams shared most of his life in the series.

Aside from acting, he also directed some episodes of the series. "Grey's Anatomy" executive producer and showrunner Krista Vernoff even called the actor an extraordinary artist and activist.

"Jesse brings so much heart, such depth of care, and so much intelligence to his work. We will miss Jesse terribly, and we will miss Jackson Avery - played to perfection for so many years," she said.

Outside "Grey's Anatomy," Williams also worked as the director of "Rebel" episodes and the producer of "Two Distant Strangers." The latter won an Oscar for a live-action short film in January.
