According to an article on TMZ, Kim Kardashian is using her power and influence to fight the death row charge for Melissa Lucio. Kardashian has asked Governor Abbott, the Governor of Texas to halt the execution in favor of re-examining the case. Lucio has been on death row for fifteen years after being convicted of murdering her two year old daughter. Lucio told officials that her daughter had fallen down the stairs, but, through the court proceedings, she was convinced to make a false confession.

Lucio's son, John Lucio, is thrilled by the support that is being shown to his mother and his family by the The Kardashians star. He also mentioned that his mother is particularly touched by the actions. He shared, "Kim Kardashian being an advocate for her has really lifted her spirits. I mean, my mother, she wouldn't have the words, but she would love to thank her."
