Avril Lavigne just recreated her album cover from twenty years ago, and it is iconic.

Avril Lavigne is back, and we could not be more thrilled about the return. After a long hiatus, the star performed at this year's New Year's Eve celebration, thrusting herself back into the limelight.

It has become the expected standard that when stars make a return, they are, more often than not, announcing a new era. (Wink at Panic! At the Disco and Taylor Swift) This new era comes with a new feel and a new sound that fans can sink their teeth into. Lavigne, however, is taking her comeback and using it to honor where she came from.

It has been twenty years since the punk-pop icon's first album Let Go was released. A few short weeks ago, in light of this anniversary, she released a re-recorded deluxe version of the album. Fans obsessed over the new recording, feeling nostalgically charged after the first song started to play. (Nostalgia isn't that "Complicated." Get it?)

However, the ode to her past did not stop there. In a continuation of this twentieth anniversary celebration, the singer recreated her iconic New York City street cover from the well-loved Let Go album. She went to the same location, clad in nearly the same exact outfit, posing the same way.

WE. ARE. OBSESSED.

However, in order to give the photo a very 2022 twist, she posted the recreation on TikTok, creating the perfect marriage of past and future.

*Chef's kiss*.

Avril Lavigne started her career as an icon, and we are confident that she will continue to do the same.
