Prince William and footballer Jill Scott happened to know each other through an unforgettable encounter 10 years ago.

On August 23, 2022, Tuesday, Jill Scott officially retired from playing football after winning a lot of tournaments with the Lionesses.

The Duke of Cambridge is clearly a fan of football games, he took some time to thank Scott for her valuable contribution to the field of sports.

William tweeted his message to the pioneer of women's football saying that "it's been a pleasure to get to know you."

In his post, he remembers the days that the two met in the field where the Duke cracks a joke hinting what happened in their encounter which was happened10 years ago.

 

"Please there won't be any more slide- tackles during"'friendly" kickabouts," William said.

Footballer Scott got a chance to play with future "king" in the field when an incident happened which caused an injury to William.

Accidentally, Scott "slide-tackled" and "wiped out" William in their encounter in the field.

The award winning athlete elaborated the incident in her podcast Jill Scott's Coffee Club  in which she said that the event happened in a charity gathering in which she admitted that she accidentally caused an injury to William.

And since then, it has become the "joke" of all time for the future king whenever the two bump into each other.

The Duke is always reminding the football star that there is "'No yellow cards this tournament Jill."

Meanwhile, Scott also shared to her Instagram about the "Farewell Footy" tribute for her produced by the Players' Tribune Football.

 

The video features the life of Scott as a footballer and the realizations and learnings he gets in the world of football.

"PTF" also shared some memorable lines from the farewell video. Scott said that her retirement should not be something to be sad for instead, "we are going to make this a celebration."

Reminding everyone that there is so much fun to celebrate so there is no room for "sad faces."

As cliche it can be, Scott shared her advice to the athletes and maybe to all who are able to watch the video.

"If you don't love it, you don't last..." adding that your dream is what will sustain you.

William is a great fan of the Lionesses in which he always gives time to visit the athletes and check on them whenever. Plus during the game, the Duke always shows his support; he even hugs members of the team.
