"Aquaman" star Jason Momoa sets the bar high as a real-life superhero as he takes THIS big initiative to help his friend find a bone marrow donor.

In a recent Instagram post, the 43 year old actor posted a video to raise awareness for his "Be The Match" movement to aid his friend Travis Snyder in finding a bone marrow donor. Snyder was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, which is a cancer of the blood and bone marrow.

The "Game of Thrones" actor calls out to his 17 million followers to help in the initiative in light of his birthday. As of now, Snyder has not been able to find a match as his bone marrow donor.

"Thousands of you have swabbed your cheek which we are so grateful for, but we still need more for Travis and the other patients. My birthday is coming up and all I want is for you to be a hero and hit the link in bio and join the registry." Momoa captioned in his post.

"Be The Match" is a non-profit organization with the purpose of helping patients find the life-saving transplant they need. Momoa and Snyder met while on vacation in Hawaii in 2015, where the two had become friends and hung out for 5 days straight.

According to an interview with Good Morning America, Snyder did not initially tell the actor about his disease when they met. When it was finally brought up, Momoa took the initiative to help in every way he could.

"When I mentioned the registry thing, he was kind of mad at me, and was like, 'What? Why haven't you told me this before?'" Snyder explained. "Once he realized the awareness issue, he's jumped in with both feet. I really love him and appreciate the support and awareness."

Not His First Real-life Heroic Act

Not surprisingly, the DC star has been known for his many acts of kindness in recent headlines.

Off-screen, the "Aquaman" star also fights for the health of our world's oceans as Momoa is a known U.N. Environment Programme advocate for Life Below Water. In February, Momoa had reportedly helped the bar staff in New York eject a rowdy drunk man off the establishment before things could get violent.

Jason Momoa's upcoming DC sequel, "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom", is set to premiere on December 25, 2023.
