Katy Perry has nothing but praise for Jelly Roll in a short interview after the "American Idol" live show on Monday.

The "California Gurls" singer, who is set to leave the singing competition after seven seasons to "see the world and maybe bring new music," told E! News in an interview that she would like to see the "Son of a Sinner" artist join Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan as a judge.

"I gotta say Jelly Roll was crazy when he came on the show. I was convinced [by] anything he said. He could run for president. He could be my pastor, I might go back to church for him. He could sell me anything," she said.

"So I love him. And to have any of these guys plus Jelly on the show would be amazing. I love you, Jelly!"

Meanwhile, talking about her replacement at the judges' table in general, Perry said the future "American Idol" judge should be someone who could speak their mind and "doesn't read the comments" from haters on social media.

"I want a truth-teller. I want someone [who] is not afraid to tell the truth in a graceful way," she said.

"Unfortunately, when you're a woman and you have an opinion, or you're a boss, sometimes you're also considered a b***h... so just someone that has a strong sense of self, that listens to their intuition."

It seems like the "Roar" singer saw these qualities in Jelly Roll -- real name Jason Bradley DeFord -- when he appeared on the show on April 8 as a guest mentor.

During his guest appearance, DeFord also sang "Halfway to Hell" from his "Whitsitt Chapel" studio album. Like Perry, many netizens said they want him to be part of the show as one of its judges.

"'American Idol' should retain him, please. He is such a great mentor. He fired up all the contestants," one netizen commented on his performance uploaded on YouTube.

"I thought he was the best mentor they've ever had. He should be a judge. He is so talented," said someone else.

"He's brilliant on 'Idol,' really livens up the show. They should keep him as a judge," wrote a different commenter.
