Germany will play Paraguay on Wednesday in the first test of the new season for the European powerhouse.

Though the match won't count towards Germany's bid for a place in next summer's World Cup, it could be a test for the team as they face two qualifiers for the international tournament next month. Deutschland's coach, Joachim low, said he'll put a competitive team on the pitch in Kaiserslautern, Germany to face Paraguay, including his star strikers Miroslav Klose and Mario Gomez .

"Mario Gomez and Miro Klose are decisive players for me,'' he told ESPN FC, referring to the Fiorentina and Lazio fowards who are set to play a half each in the game.

Paraguay will use the game as an opportunity to refine their play in preparation for a paramount World Cup qualifier against Bolivia on Sept. 6.

A defeat at the hands of Bolivia will mean an almost certain elimination from next summer's international tournament for Paraguay. Paraguay has just eight points in their 12 qualifiers thus far, and they sit at the foot of the table amongst South American teams hoping to make the 2014 World Cup.

Despite their mediocre play thus far, German defender Mats Hummels said his squad will research Paraguay's aggressive offensive style in preparation for their matchup.

"South American sides are renowned for playing attacking football,'' he said. "I don't really know much about them, but we'll find out in our video analysis.''
