The court has formally indicted Oscar Pistorious for the murder of Reeva Steenkamp, the South African model who was shot dead by the Olympic and Paralympic athlete on February 14, 2013.

Steenkamp had been dating Pistorious since November 2012.

The date for the murder trial has been set for March 3, 2014. Prosecutors will call 107 witnesses to testify against Pistorius. The list of witnesses includes Pistorious' neighbors and several of Steenkamp's formal girlfriends.

In a formal summary of the facts for the case, the neighbors claimed that they "heard a woman scream, followed by moments of silence, then heard gunshots and more screaming" on the fatal Valentine's Day evening.

Steenkamp's girlfriends will be exposing some details about the nature of the relationship between the couple and testifying to Pistorious' aggressive behavior in the past.

Kim Myers, one of Steenkamp's friends was present at the court for the final decision yesterday, she tweeted about it: "In court today in memory of @reevasteenkamp #love and #miss you my #LFB #RIPreeva #ReevaSteenkamp"

South African boxing star Kevin Lerena will be one of the key witness' in the trial. Lerena was with Pistorious when he fired a loaded gun in a crowded Johanessburg restaurant last year. Lerena suffered an injury in the foot because of the gun wound.

Another notable witness is former police investigator, Hilton Botha. In an interview in June, he had told Vanity Fair that the crime scene hinted at the fact that Steenkamp was "cowering in the toilet with her arms crossed, which would account for why one bullet had gone through her fingers before entering her arm."

The 26-year-old Pistorious has claimed that he shot in self-defense as he mistook Steenkamp for a burglar hiding in the bathroom.
