The trailer for the Scarlett Johansson's Under the Skin, which premieres at the Venice International Film festival on Monday night, has just been released.

The sci-fi film has been directed and written by Jonathan Glazer (Birth) and is an adaptation of Michael Faber's book of the same name. Johansson plays an alien seductress who hunts men in Scotland. She wears a different look -- wearing short black hair -- for the film. Faber's novel is about an alien sent to earth to prey on unwary hitchhikers.

In the trailer, Johansson's character is seen with various men in the dimly lit scenes -- sans dialogue, the almost muted soundscape creates a palpable eeriness --  which also show her on the road, in a night club, by the shore, and luring men into a hidden lair.

"In a perfect world, Glazer would win the top prize on Sunday and not have to wait another nine years before he makes his next film. But we do not live in a perfect world, and Under the Skin is perhaps best viewed as an icy parable of love, sex and loneliness," is what film critic Xan Brooks of the Guardian had to say in his 'first look' review of the film.

The movie also stars Paul Brannigan and Krystof Hadek.

Next, Under The Skin goes to the Toronto Film Festival, which begins on Sept. 5.

Johansson has also got another film lined-up for TIFF this year. She is co-starring in Joseph Gordon-Levitt romantic comedy, Don Jon.

The film follows the story of Don, who has earned the nickname because of his highly promiscuous lifestyle, objectification of women and addiction to porn. It explores his eventual dissatisfaction with porn, which leads him to seek out a more gratifying sex life. He starts to see things differently with the help of two women, one of whom is played by Johansson. Don Jon will be released on Sept. 27.
