Now less than two weeks away from its return, CBS' hit crime drama, Criminal Minds is currently gearing up for the release of its ninth season, which will reportedly be laced with flashbacks of the character of J.J. (A.J. Cook).

According to TV Guide, the upcoming installment of the popular program "is shaping up to be the season of J.J," as anger from the fans of the actress' exit led to her being rehired.

Cook spoke to the site about her rehiring, and the wide range of emotions that her upcoming scenes will entail.

"We're going to use the serendipitous gift of season 6 to explain with flashbacks what happened when she was working for the Pentagon and why she came back as a much tougher character. I've never had a chance to flex my acting muscles like this on the show!"

"They share a pretty dark secret that comes back to haunt them. People are going to be confused and angry, but it's all going to make beautiful sense to our audience when we explain it in our 200th episode," Cool added.

CBS' Criminal Minds will be launching its ninth season on Wednesday, September 25. Be sure to keep checking back for more of the latest details on the popular TV series. A video trailer for episode 1 can be viewed below.
