Melissa Gorga's recently released book Love Italian Style: The Secrets of My Hot and Happy Marriage has been deemed controversial for promoting marital rape.

The Real Housewives of New Jersey star's book was panned by writer Tracie Egan Morrissey for what she calls promoting "sexism" and "caveman logic" in a post in Jezebel on Wednesday.

Gorga and her husband Joe Gorga both wrote advice in her book on how to have a successful relationship based on their marriage. Their suggestions, however,

In Morrissey's article titled, 'Real Housewife' Melissa Gorga Advocates Marital Rape, she criticized what she called an "egregious" passages written by Joe.

"'Men, I know you think your woman isn't the type who wants to be taken," Joe wrote. "But trust me, she is. Every girl wants to get her hair pulled once in a while. If your wife says "no," turn her around, and rip her clothes off. She wants to be dominated.

In response, Egan commented on that passgae: "That is rape and it is insane that it got past the publisher."

Egan called another passgae he wrote "digested garbage."

"Refusing to initiate is a Top Three reason men cheat. The ugliest girl in the world could come on to a man in that state of mind, and he might have to go for it. He thinks, At least someone wants me."

Morrissey wrote that Melissa is Joe's "sex slave" because the reality star admitted to giving in to his sexual demands and have some type of  sex with him every day. She said in order to satisfy his needs, she has "passionate sex" and "maintenance sex" and suggests her readers do the same to prevent their partners from going to strip clubs and to keep fights to a minimum.

"In the beginning, Joe wanted to have sex every single day, at least once, if not twice or three times...If I didn't give it to him once a day, he'd get upset. There's real passionate sex and maintenance sex. You need them both for a healthy marriage. Maintenance sex keeps the wheels greased, the lines of communication open, and the fights to a minimum."
