The Blacklist's Raymond Reddington may be responsible for attempting to set up Tom Keen, but is that is just the surface of the story behind Liz Keen's mysterious husband.

Viewers of the freshman NBC drama are in perpetual suspense as to one aspect of the show or another and it looked like last Monday's episode, "Gina Zanetakos," had the capacity to provide fans with some solid answers.

"It felt like it was time for an episode where we could get one answer," said executive producer Wendy West in a recent behind-the-scenes interview. "The goal of this episode was: can we learn something definitive about Tom or Red or [Liz's] relationship to either of them."

After Liz (Megan Boone) confronts her husband about the box of spy paraphernalia he has been hiding, Tom (Ryan Eggold) feigns innocence, even going so far as to allow the FBI to arrest him.

"[Tom] wants to talk, he wants to open up and he is an open book," said executive producer John Eisendrath. "Or he is pretending to be."

Luckily for Tom, Liz and Red's (James Spader) investigation into Gina Zanetakos (Margarita Levieva) revels that Reddington has been laying a trap for Tom. As Red and Liz's burgeoning trust crumbles, Tom and his wife are reunited. For now.

"Truthfully, I truly don't know who Tom Keen is," Eggold revealed. "I play what they give me every week and sort of I hear whispers of what's coming and where they're taking the character and it's very exciting. But for the moment, Tom's innocent."
