Glee will be airing a previously unaired Christmas special in December, though it is not known if the episode was supposed to air a year ago or not.

Fox released a synopsis this week for episode 5.08, titled Previously Unaired Christmas. According to the synopsis, Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) will introduce the episode as a Christmas special that was not allowed to air on Fox in 2012.

During the episode, the members of New Directions will audition for different roles in the high school's Nativity Scene. In New York, Rachel (Lea Michele), Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Santana (Naya Rivera) work as Santa's elves at a local mall.

Assuming the Christmas special really was supposed to air last year, it would be out of order with last season's timeline consider Santana moved to New York in spring 2013, in the episode Diva. Additionally, season 4 already had a Christmas special called Glee, Actually. This suggests that Previously Unaired Christmas is meant to be a standalone episode pretending to be a "lost Christmas episode."

Puck (Mark Salling) will also be coming in for the Christmas special. This gels with the timeline presented during season 4 and not season 5 considering he signed up for the Air Force earlier in season 5.
