The Mentalist's Patrick Jane will be teaming up with the FBI but not unless they get some of his old team back together.

Following the death of Red John and the shake up over the Tyger Tyger Conspiracy, Jane (Simon Baker) is hiding out in South America while his former co-workers have all moved on to other jobs.

While Kimball Cho (Tim Kang) hooks up with the FBI, Teresa Lisbon (Robin Tunney) becomes a small-town police chief, and Wayne Rigsby (Owain Yeoman) and Grace Van Pelt (Amanda Righetti) are running a security firm, according to TV Guide Magazine.

"I think for the other characters it's a little like they're children of divorce, you know, what's next? They've been enthralled in someone else's mission and now that mission is gone," series creator Bruno Heller told E!. "They were in a world they didn't choose and now they're in a world that's changing around them, again not of their own volition. What this is going to be for these characters is a process of growing up."

However, following the events of "My Blue Heaven" on Dec. 1, Jane will agree to work with the FBI during "Green Thumb" - but only if Lisbon is also working with them.

Meanwhile, Rigsby and Van Pelt's agency will also be in league with the FBI.

"Basically, they have their own private security company," Righetti told E!. "So we sort of are outsourced and freelanced with the FBI, and that's how we fit in."
