Three unpublished stories, The Ocean Full of Bowling Balls, Paula, and Birthday Boy, by J.D. Salinger have been leaked online.

The stories were leaked on Reddit on Nov. 27 after being purchased in an eBay auction. The title page reads, "the three stories in this book remain unpublished."

Kenneth Slawenski, a Salinger scholar and author of J.D. Salinger: A Life, confirmed the works to be the late author's unpublished stories.

"While I do quibble with the ethics (or lack of ethics) in posting the Salinger stories, they look to be true transcripts of the originals and match my own copies," the scholar told Buzzfeed.

Vulture's literary critic suggested that The Ocean Full of Bowling Balls is actually an unoffical prequel to Catcher in the Rye.

A documentary and book researched, written and directed by Shane Salerno was released in September.

The film attempted to capture and humanize the mystical persona of the elusive author and took about nine years to make. Salerno (ArmageddonSavages) worked with code names, hidden identities and surveillance cameras while researching Salinger's life. The production of the film was kept top secret through this period.

"It was run like a CIA operation. Everything was compartmentalized, top secret and on a need-to-know basis. It was really intense," co-producer Jeffrey Doe told The Associated Press about the making of the film.

In nine years, Salerno managed to conduct more than 100 interviews with Salinger's friends war buddies and fans. The film also featured interviews with the likes of Philip Seymour Hoffman and Ed Norton, who are great fans of Salinger.
