Hart of Dixie fans are left with lots of questions after the mid-season finale aired Monday but the show's executive producers, Leila Gerstein and Len Goldstein, revealed a few things they have in store for Bluebell's hottest couples.

Though Wade and Zoe kissed in the last episode, her new guy Joel (played by Josh Cooke) will be hanging around for a little bit longer.

"We knew from the incarnation of the character that we were going to be bringing Zoe back with the person she would have been with had she stayed in New York," Gerstein said. "We had written the first six episodes of the season before we cast Josh, so we always knew...He's around for more episodes."

Joel also stays in the picture because he gives the show the New York City flair that Zoe missed since permanently moving to Bluebell. Gerstein explained that Zoe is "certainly different" with Joel and seemingly happier. He added, "We're doing romantic comedy stuff with them.".

"It gave us another side of Zoe, and we got to do some fish-out-of-water stories that we didn't actually get to do with her," Goldstein chimed in saying.

He also revealed that Zoe's ex, Wade, and Joel actually have a developing relationship.

While Zoe and Joel might be going strong, George and Linly's new relationship will face an obstacle when his ex-love Tansy comes back into the picture. Being that Linly is Lavon's sister, George promised Lavon that he would "do right" by her.

Lavon and Annabeth as well as Brick and Shelby's relationships will be played out even further this season as well.

The show returns on the CW Monday Jan. 13 at 8/7 p.m. Central.
