Showtime's Californication is preparing to exit the airwaves following its upcoming seventh season.

The irreverent Tom Kapinos created comedy will return to Showtime in April for a final 12 episodes before Hank Moody's (David Duchovny) script comes to an end.

Knowing that the program was in its final stages, writers penned a season that would leave nothing hanging.

"Tom has carefully planned the final chapter of Hank's journey and has brought it to a beautiful and satisfying conclusion for new and long-time fans alike," said David Nevins, Entertainment president for Showtime, according to Deadline.

Although Hank's movie, Santa Monica Cop, never made it to the big screen, the writer will now be working on a TV show based on the same concept, according to Deadline. However, his relationship with Karen (Natascha McElhone) will be as turbulent as ever. Karen's capricious lover will be giving her an impassioned speech about love but someone will crash the proceedings, according to E!.

The series will also introduce a few new characters before it wraps. Amy (Mercedes Masöhn) , a friend of Sasha Bingham (Addison Timlin), we be introduced as well as someone named Hashtag Black, according to TV Line.

The season 7 premiere date has yet to be announced.
