All eyes are on Russia's Evgeni Plushenko, who already has four Olympic medals (2002 and 2010 silver, 2006 and 2014 gold).
The 31-year-old figure skater is stronger than ever although he had undergone several surgeries since the 2010 Games, including one to replace a disk in his spine and knee operations.

Some of Plushenko's many competitors include Liam Firus of Canada, Yakov Godorozha of Ukraine, Misha Ge of Uzbekistan, Jason Brown of the U.S., Alexei Bychenko of Israel and Yuzuru Hanyu, who is also a big hopeful.
Some even believe Hanyu can win the gold, including Evan Lysacek, the American 2010 Olympic champion.
"For sure, he has a good shot," said Lysacek, who is currently a TODAY show analyst. "He's got the edge after his brilliant short."
Hanyu, however, said he is only focused on doing his best during the competition.
"I am not even thinking about the color of the medal," he told the Japanese press. "I am just concentrating, very hard, at each practice and really doing everything I can do."
The men's short program takes place at 10:00 p.m. EST. Watch the live stream here.
