One of the most significant characters on Orange is the New Black is Red (Kate Mulgrew), and she will continue to be tough-as-nails in the upcoming second season.

Red, a.k.a. Galina Reznikov, was last seen on Orange is the New Black in the season 1 finale sabotaging Gloria (Selenis Leyva), the head cook who replaced her in the kitchen. Gloria refused to feed Red after finding out about Red's sabotage.

Red will continue with her calculated behavior in the second season, set to premiere in June.

"This Russian peasant with the mind of steel; she's strategic, she's kind, she's complicated. She's going to survive among the bleak monochromatic prison walls if it's the last thing she does," Mulgrew told People in February.

Season 2 of Orange is the New Black is set to feature a slew of new characters. Lorraine Toussaint (Any Day Now) will guest star as a woman who owned a drug ring, in which she employed children. Lori Petty (Tank Girl) will have a role in the new season, though there are no details known thus far about her character.

Additionally, some of the show's recurring guest stars have been promoted to series regular status in season 2. Such actress include Uzo Aduba, (who plays "Crazy Eyes") Danielle Brooks (Taystee) and Taryn Manning (Pennsatucky).
