As the Chrisley family of USA's "Chrisley Knows Best" continues to display their lives on reality TV, more is coming out about Todd Chrisley's bankruptcy case.

Todd Chrisley Accused of Hiding Assets

The reality TV dad filed for bankruptcy in August 2012, according to People magazine. Apparently an investment deal went bad. That paired with outrageous spending on luxury cars and shopping trips caused a debt of $49.4 million. However, his assets total $4.2 million.

If that wasn't bad enough, he had $12 million mortgages, owed the IRS $595, 227.98. His wife, Julie, and former Miss Carolina also loaned him $4.4 million. When he filed for bankruptcy, Chrisley mentioned that he had $55 in his checking account and $100 in his wallet.

But his trustee handling the case, Jason Pettie, believed that something suspicious is going on his case. Pettie has accused Chrisley of using his wife to hide and protect his assets.

He wrote, "Neither [Chrisley nor his wife, Julie] have been employed since 2012. However, they continue to live in lavish residences, drive expensive vehicles and travel extensively."

Pettie also claimed that he continues to make "high-end clothing and accessory purchases."

As of now, Pettie has requested that a judge order AOL and Google to hand over Chrisley's emails so he can take a look at the subject line and find out if he is hiding any assets in his email. He also called Saks Fifth Avenue and Louis Vuitton to appraise the worth of the clothes in Chrisley's closet.

Still, Chrisley's lawyer has defended him against Pettie's claims.

Robert Furr told People magazine, "He has cooperated fully. He has been totally honest and forthright. He is not hiding assets"

He went as far as saying that the name brand clothes Chrisley has are not brand new.

"There are procedural aspects regarding the value of certain personal property that he owns. We'll have the clothes appraised. But I go on eBay, and used esigner clothes don't sell for much. These are used clothes."
