The season finale of Bones is slated to be a significant one for the show, as Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan's (Emily Deschanel) livelihoods are put in question.

Ghost Killer On The Loose Again, Leads Back To The FBI?

The season 9 finale of Bones is titled The Recluse in the Recliner, but the events of the episode will be anything but relaxing. The episode is directed by Boreanaz and it will be a big one for his character as he finds himself involved in a potential government conspiracy. The storyline will intertwine with the mysterious Ghost Killer as well.

"The Ghost Killer turned out to be the tease for a much larger story about government corruption," Bones EP Stephen Nathan told TVLine recently. "Since Booth is potentially being promoted to a much more important and influential position, he will be forced to confront and deal with this corruption head on."

Brennan & Booth Ready For Baby No. 2 To Join Christine?

This means that season 9 will end with fans "not knowing the future of Booth and Brennan's lives," Nathan continued. "They will have to uncover and set right what has been poisoned in the FBI. And both will have to deal with what they've been forced to do."

Luckily for fans of the Fox procedural, the network has renewed Bones for a season 10, so all cliffhanger questions will likely be answered when the series returns at some point within the 2014-2015 TV season.

Bones season 9 airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on Fox.
