While the new Power Rangers movie is still in the development stages, it looks like a couple A-list stars are being rumored for roles in the upcoming action series revival.
According to KPopStarz on Wednesday, Liam Hemsworth, Chloe Grace Moretz, Taylor Lautner, Liam Neeson, and Jack Gleeson are named associated with roles in the Power Rangers movie. Hemsworth and Lautner are connected because the movie is distributed by Lionsgate, who also distributed The Hunger Games and Twilight, which they starred in.
The report added that Grace Moretz has accepted the role as the Pink Ranger, but nothing has been confirmed.
The Power Rangers movie is currently being written by X-Men: First Class writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz with Star Trek and Transformers writer Roberto Orci on board to help with the script and produce the movie.
While the casting is pure speculation right now, the script work was started in July and it could be just Lionsgate testing the waters before solidifying anything with the script. No names have been linked to the directing chair yet, with Orci set to direct Star Trek 3 soon.
Initially titled The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the show featured footage from a Japanese children's show. It was later renamed Power Rangers and became a 90's hit TV series and global marketing franchise. The show first aired on Fox Kids before moving to Disney-owned channels in the 2000s. A movie also hit theaters in 1995.
The new movie has no release date set yet.
