The official launch of Apple's OS X Mountain Lion is set for July 25. Mac users will be able to purchase the operating system at the App Store for $20. Free Mountain Lion upgrades will reportedly be given to customers who purchased a new Apple computer after June 11.

Qualifying Mac users who purchased the computer through Apple or an authorized reseller can redeem their free upgrade on the Apple website. The deal is only valid within 30 days of the new software release.

The OS X Mountain Lion will include a number of improvements and features such as new Reminders and Messages.

Other features would include upgraded Notification Center, Power Nap, Dictation, Gatekeeper among other things.

The Mountain Lion update will not be launched alongside any other major hardware launch, unlike last year when new Minis and MacBook Airs were launched at the same time.
