London 2012 Basketball: USA Smash Tunisia With Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Love, Durant Leading Way
The London 2012 basketball tournament has seen Team USA defeat Tunisia 110-63 on Tuesday night. The United States surprised everyone as they struggled for the first half, but a show of excellence in the second saw them rack up a hefty victory.
Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Love scored 16 points each, and Kevin Durant scored 13 points to lead the U.S. to their win.
The highly favored United States were hot favorites to sweep Tunisia aside, but they were labored in the first half, and seemed to just be going through the motions. The relatively tight score line surprised many and upset some Team USA fans who had expected their side to put on a showboating performance. However, they struggled to establish themselves in the game and were unable to impose themselves on their opponents, leading by only 13 points at half time.
However, the team must have been given an ear full at half time as a revitalized side came out for the third quarter. The third period saw Team USA outscore Tunisia 39-14 and finally gave the hyped up crowd something to cheer about.
The result means the United States basketball team is 2-0 following a second easy win.
Anthony Davis scored 12 points, with 10 coming on dunks, and Russell Westbrook added 11 points more.
Team USA will now move on to their third game on Thursday night where they will meet Nigeria, who are currently 1-1 after their first two games. The United States will again be hot favorites to inflict a heavy defeat against the African country.
