Oh my Chuck.

Supernatural brought back a long lost character for its 200th episode, and it turned out to be none other than Chuck Shurley (Rob Benedict).

The author/prophet/God attended a musical performance of his Supernatural novels during "Fan Fiction." His appearance was highly anticipated and well received by longtime fans, but it did raise a sticky question - is Chuck actually God?

Chuck's dematerialization at the end of Season 5's "Swan Song" started speculation regarding his divine nature, and his post-death reappearance seems to strengthen those claims. According to writer Robbie Thompson, he would be quite happy if the timid prophet was just a vessel for Castiel's (Misha Collins) ever-absent father.

"I love the theories!" Thompson told E!. "I love every single one of them. I think it's fantastic. People reacting to a show with that level of passion where they want to dot all the I's and cross all the T's and perhaps even write fan fiction inspired by the work itself, I find it really inspiring. And I agree with all of the theories. I always view Rob's character as a proxy for [creator] Eric [Kripke], but Chuck is my God. I agree with that theory and I love it."
