On Monday, The Hollywood Reporter announced that Dallas star Patrick Duffy will be joining the series along with Marlene Forte, another Dallas star. Tony Plana (Ugly Betty) is also set to come on board.

Duffy will be playing Robert Quinn, Sr., the domineering father of Robert Quinn, played by Kerr Smith. Plana and Forte will be playing two relatives of the Adams Fosters family named Victor and Elena.

The three are expected to appear in episodes that will air this March.

Duffy's other credits include Step By Step and The Bold and the Beautiful. Forte is known for A Haunted House, Star Trek and Real Women Have Curves. Plana is known for Goal! The Dream Begins, Primal Fear as well as Gaby's sexually abusive stepfather on the former ABC series Desperate Housewives.

The Fosters producer Peter Paige recently spoke to Gay Star News on how the series is influencing others by showing audiences that same-sex parents are just like any other parent since the show stars two mothers.

"I think it's far more threatening for people to see this family that by all accounts looks and feels like every other family," Paige said. "I'm proud of that."

"I'm proud of the complexity and dexterity with which LGBT characters are handled these days," the producer added. "We've come a long way. We can always do more, we can always do better but we've come a long, long way."

The Fosters returns on Monday, January 19 on ABC Family.
