It's been officially announced if Reign is going to be back for more episodes after the second season ends.

Former Character Returns To 'Reign' To Deliver 'Shocking Revelations'

All fans of the royal drama can rejoice because the series will indeed continue after the second season finishes this year. It was announced on Sunday from TV Line that Reign along with a number of other big shows on The CW have been renewed.

Reign is getting a third season where seven other shows are coming back with it. These include Arrow (Season 4), Jane the Virgin (Season 2), Supernatural (Season 11), The 100 (Season 3), The Flash (Season 2), The Originals (Season 3) and The Vampire Diaries (Season 7).

Chatter On Mary Scheming A Marriage On 'Reign'

As for what's going to take place in the storyline of Reign, a lot of it remains a mystery at the moment. However, it was announced from Entertainment Weekly that Mary de Guise will be back to cause some more havoc in an upcoming episode.

"We are very excited to welcome back Amy Brenneman as Mary de Guise in an episode airing next year," executive producer Laurie McCarthy said. "You never know what's coming with Mary de Guise, and this time will be no different as she delivers a series of shocking revelations to Mary, and ultimately forces her to face and confront her failing relationship with Francis."

Reign will return to The CW on Thursday, January 22 at 9 p.m. ET.
