It was announced that "Jersey Shore" would be cancelled after its sixth season and the fans did not water to take to Twitter and react to the decision made by MTV.

Some called MTV "heartless" and asked for a "moment of silence for the greatest reality tv show."

Others were happy about the decision, like DJ Fresh (Big Dawg), who wrote " 'Jersey Shore' is finally ending. And Republicans say Obama hasn't Accomplished anything...psssh."

Others posted, "Jersey Shore's cancelled? There is a God," and "I would like to thank @MTV for finally cancelling Jersey Shore."

The announcement on Aug. 30 came in the same week as Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi's birth to her firstborn Lorenzo in Livingston, NJ.

The sixth, and last, season of the "Shore" premieres on Oct. 4. The show's cast also took to Twitter to express their thoughts on the show's cancellation.

"Aright, so I guess I'll run for president now #Vinny2012," Vinny Gaudagnino wrote.

"It's been one hell of a ride but this is just the beginning! Thank you all for your love & support throughout," Samanthat "Sammy" Giancola tweeted.

The "Jersey Show" phenomenon put the cast on the map and made them known throughout the reality television world. MTV even had spinoffs for Snooki and JennI "Jwoww" Farley, and another for DJ Pauly D. Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino was even a competitor on the ABC hit "Dancing With the Stars."
