Candy Corn Oreos Hit Shelves, Get Mixed Reviews: "Just Wrong", Says Al Roker
Oreos are staple cookies known around the world for their white cream-filled chocolate sandwich. But now, they are changing up their look by presenting a new candy corn cookie.
The golden cookie wafer with yellow and orange cream filling are hitting shelves just in time for the Halloween season. Reports are saying that the filling has just a hint of the traditionally candy corn flavor, tasting more like the cookie's regular icing.
Target starting carrying the new snack on Monday, Sept. 10, for $3.59, according to Web Pro News.
A video posted on Youtube gives a firsthand view of the new cookie.
"TODAY" anchors and Today.com staffers tried the candy corn Oreo and reported that it got "mixed reviews."
"Some of us loved it (seven cookies later, video producer Kyle Michael Miller is now on a sugar high) and some of us hated it, but most of us summed up the experience like this: "Eh, it's not that bad...actually, it's kinda good... wait, can I get one more?" the site reported.
Additionally, not all the show's anchors took a particular liking to the cookie: Al Roker called them "Just wrong."
Candy corn is one of the most well-known snacks in relation to the Halloween season. However, many companies carry other flavors and holiday-inspired themes in their products for the fall. For example, Starbucks serves their pumpkin spice latte only in the fall.
