Jamie Kuntz missed his very first college football game due to a concussion. However, it was a kiss from his 65-year-old boyfriend that allegedly led to the rookie linebacker being taken off of the team.

The North Dakota State College of Sciences in Wahpeton admitted that Kuntz had been reprimanded by the team, but they claim that it was not due to his homosexuality. On the other hand, coach Chuck Parsons reportedly told Kuntz in a letter that the team was letting him go because he was not truthful about his homosexual kiss.

The 18-year-old left the southeast North Dakota college on Thursday morning, Sept. 13, after being dismissed.

"Football didn't work out, so there's no reason to stay," Kuntz stated to KSDK.

The former linebacker said that he was in the press box for a game against Snow College in Pueblo, Colo., during Labor Day weekend in order to videotape the game for his team. When the Wildcats were being beat by over 40 points, "the kiss just happened," Kuntz said.

"People around here aren't exposed to it. People expect gays to be flamboyant, not football players," he added.

Allegedly, a teammate of Kuntz's had witness the lip-lock and informed the coaches about it. The former player was not forthcoming with his coach about who was with him in the press box.

"I lied," Kuntz said.

Soon after, Kuntz felt guilty about fibbing and eventually told the coaching staff the truth.

According to the Associated Press, coach Parsons explained to Kuntz that he was being removed due to "conduct deemed detrimental to the team."

"This decision was arrived at solely on the basis of your conduct during the football game; and because you chose not to be truthful with me when I confronted you about whom else was in the box with you. Any conduct by any member of the program that would cause such a distraction during a game would warrant the same consequences," Parsons said.

Kuntz feels as though his removal was unwarranted and done because of his sexuality.

"I know if it was a girl in the press box, or even an older woman, nothing would have happened," he said. "If it was an older woman, I would have probably been congratulated for it from my teammates."

Kuntz said that he is not giving it up on his football endeavors, as he may look to walk-on at some other university outside of North Dakota.
