The situation seems to be improving for Jerry Lawler.

The wrestler and commentator for World Wrestling Entertainment had a heart attack while filming a live episode of "Monday Night Raw". The attack reportedly happened around 45 minutes after performing in a wrestling match that night.

Michael Cole, a broadcaster, alerted emergency physicians posted near the wrestling ring as soon as his partner Lawler started having the attack.

First responders performed CPR immediately and shocked Lawler seven times with a defibrillator. On Tuesday Lawler had an angioplasty and had three stents put in to open his coronary arteries. No brain damage is said to have occurred as a result of loss of oxygen from the attack.

Lawler, 62 and also known as "the King", is still in serious but stable condition and is resting in cardiac care at hospital in Montreal.

On Wednesday night, Cole tweeted about his friend and partner: "#wweuniverse You will never believe this! I just got off the phone with the King and he is alert and in great spirits! He sends his love to you all and thanks you for all the support! He says the strap will be coming down soon! Folks Jerry Lawler is going to win this!"

It's still unclear when Lawler will be able to leave the hospital, but family members such as his former wife, Stacy Carter, have said that he appears in good spirits. "He is awake, recognizes family members and is communicating with them," said Carter. She also tweeted that he's "making progress". WWE continues to update Lawler's fans on his situation as well on their website. It's also yet to be seen if the wrestler will return in the ring. Likely he will continue his work as a commentator, but for the man known as "the King", anything's possible.
