After an accident in which he injured his leg while off-road driving, Honey Boo Boo's father was forced to receive emergency surgery to treat a severe infection. However, the news is positive, as Mama June stated that Sugar Bear's wounded limb will not need an amputation.

Doctors decided to perform a debridement, which is a surgical procedure where infected tissue is removed from the body in order for it to properly heal. Honey Boo Boo and the rest of the Thompson clan visited Sugar Bear following the surgery, saying he was in good spirits and craving peanut butter crackers.

According to TMZ, the reality star dad had sustained the injury while attempting to ride his ATV in an activity he calls "mud boggin." He had been home on crutches following the ordeal, but the wound became severally infected and he needed to be brought to a hospital.

"Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" is a TLC program that revolves around the family and life of kiddie beauty pageant regular Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson.  While most girls at her age are playing with dolls and toys, Boo Boo instead competes on stages.

The cameras follow around the Thompson clan living life on a budget in the small town of McIntyre, Ga. Sugar Bear is a chalk minor while Mama June is seemingly just a bargain hunter when she isn't playing stage mom. She regularly attends auctions to purchase clothing and food store items such as groceries.

Since its debut on Aug. 8, the TLC show has garnered the attention of millions of viewers. Its Aug. 9 show was watched by nearly 3 million people, which surprisingly beat out both the Republican National Convention and vice presidential hopeful Paul Ryan's speech.

The next episode of "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" will be premiering on Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
