Patti LaBelle, 70, and Suzanne Somers, 68, are competing on the next season of Dancing With the Stars. While older contestants tend to go out early, both of them have something to prove and couple surprise a lot of people.

"I know that people say after 50, you know, you go downhill and you just... lose excitement and wanting to learn and wanting to do different things," LaBelle said in a new interview with ABC. "At 70, I'm just beginning."

LaBelle will be partnered with Artem Chigvintsev. Meanwhile, Somers' partner Tony Dovolani is hoping to take the iconic TV personality to the top.

"I want to win badly because I won Season 15, which was the all-star season. It had six previous champions in it and a whole bunch of finalists and it was a dream come true season," Dovolani said. "And I just feel like it's [the] 20th season and we've never really had a women, and I say 'of age' -- Suzanne's 68 and I want her to hold that trophy at the end and represent those women. Age is just a number."

While there are quite a few athletes in the upcoming cast, LaBelle and Somers could make it far into the competition due to familiarity among the audience combined with the storyline of persevering at any age. Many older contestants have been less limber in the past, but LaBelle or Somers could actually excel on their own merits as well.

Dancing With the Stars season 20 begins Monday, March 16 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
