Regina (Lana Parrilla), of ABC's Once Upon a Time, is slated to have a big development happen to her in an upcoming episode of the series.

Regina Turns Spy On The Next Episode Of 'Once Upon a Time'

In this second half of the season, Regina has become the go-between for the heroes and the Queens of Darkness. Now knowing Snow's (Ginnifer Goodwin) secret, she has been asked to spy on the Queens in order to see what sort of revenge they might be plotting.

Once Upon a Time co-creators Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz spoke with The Hollywood Reporter this week, talking about the Regina-Snow relationship and a slew of other topics.

Will 'Once Upon a Time's Regina Be Able To Keep Snow's Secret To Herself?

"We loved the fact that despite everything, these two can come together," Kitsis said. "They started off as friends - they started off with Regina saving her life." Then, "Regina's going to have a huge curveball thrown her way this second half."

The co-creators did not say much to expand upon this statement, though some in the comments were speculating that this might mean that Regina is pregnant, considering the heavy focus on babies with this plotline.

It is always possible that Regina could succumb to her evil ways again as she goes to spy on the Queens of Darkness. However, Snow's belief in her suggests that she trusts her enough to do the deed.

"I think there's always an element of coming to terms with what she was and what she wants to be," Horowitz said. "But she's so strong. Mary Margaret goes to Regina for a reason -- it's partially what she says with 'You used to be a villain,' and Regina can walk in that world with a little more confidence and more safety than anyone else. ... What we loved about it was that Snow was asked to keep a secret and couldn't keep her mouth shut. Can Regina keep her mouth shut? Regina is probably a stronger and better secret-keeper than Snow White. But it does create a bond between the two of them. ... She was her stepmother."

Once Upon a Time airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
