'Grey's Anatomy' Season 9 Spoilers: Promo Preview For Episode 4
Grey's Anatomy season 9 is under way and though there will not be a new episode airing this week, there are already spoilers surfacing for episode four, "I Saw Her Standing There," airing on Oct. 24.
A press release for the episode revealed the following:
"Aware that Derek might never operate again, Meredith stops talking about the surgeries she's performing. Meanwhile, Richard calls on Dr. Catherine Avery to help him perform a complicated procedure, as things continue to heat up between Jackson and April; and Arizona's struggle to accept her fate forces Callie and Alex to face their guilt."
It will for sure be hard for fans to watch their beloved McDreamy never perform in the operating room again if that is what happens, which might also put a strain on his marriage to Meredith. His hand went numb when he tried operating in the premiere episode and flashbacks in the season's second episode showed him teaching from now on, and viewers might be left with watching just that.
"What's interesting for me is we really planned the idea that we're going to watch what happens to a doctor who can temporarily no longer perform surgery," Shonda Rhimes, the show's executive producer, said. "And what do you do and how do you overcome this? Derek is being pretty heroic about it, which is interesting."
It will also be interesting to see Jackson and April's relationship develop as the hospital hosts his mother, Catherine, for help on a surgery.
While Sara Ramirez has not revealed much about the future of Callie's relationship with Arizona (Jessica Capshaw), she did say that she hopes fans "will continue on this journey with us, because it's definitely going to be an intense one," according to Hollywood Life.
Arizona survives the plane crash, but she is missing one leg. She then goes into a state of depression, which Callie tries to get her out of. Ramirez also said that Callie will put a lot of pressure on herself this season to help Derek with his arm injury.
Episode three of "Grey's Anatomy" airs on Oct. 18. There is no episode on Oct. 11 because of the vice presidential debate.
Watch "Grey's Anatomy" every Thursday at 9/8 Central on ABC.
