Clexa, the pairing of Lexa (Alycia Debnam Carey) and Clarke (Eliza Taylor), falls into this category, becoming a romance that sprang up natural as characters found their footing.

"It evolved organically," writer Kira Snyder explained via Tumblr. "We created Lexa's character including her backstory with Costia fairly early, and Lexa had heard a lot about Season 1 Clarke and was intrigued before even meeting her, as any Commander would have been. As we got deeper into the season and Lexa and Clarke grew closer in the episodes we wrote, that connection developed into what you see onscreen."

Where the relationship will go from here, however, is rather cloudy - both for viewers and for writers. There is no guarantee that Debnam Carey will return for a third season now that she is tied up with Fear the Walking Dead, so Clarke may be left to sort out her feelings on her own.
