Los Angeles has no idea what it's in for on Fear The Walking Dead.

Get A First Glimpse Of The Walkers Terrorizing L.A.

The companion series for The Walking Dead dropped its first official trailer at San Diego Comic Con July 10, and gives fans the first real look at how the outbreak begins--and the first glimpse at just how much no one believed it was happening really affected the speed with which it took over.

The trailer starts off showing the normal daily struggles which face core couple Madison (Kim Dickens) and Travis (Cliff Curtis)--but things quickly dissolve into chaos far beyond that of trying to raise a blended family with teenage children.

'Fear the Walking Dead' Will Focus On 'Psychological Tension'

Things start off when Madison's son, Nick (Frank Dillane) wakes up after a night of partying in a church--and finds everyone else bloody and dead. He then realizes what happened when he sees a walker for the first time as it feasts on one of the other people--and runs for his life as a result. But after he is hit by a car and winds up in the hospital trying to tell his story--no one believes him.

Things once again take a turn for the shocking after a traffic hold-up is leaked onto video and shows another walker for the first time as well--which finally starts making people worry, though there are still doubts. However, before long the apocalypse has officially begun--and safety could quickly dissipate as the group finds themselves split up as well.

The trailer eventually closes out with a particularly haunting quote as the core family watches the world as they know it become a thing of the past.

"When civilization ends," someone says in the trailer. "It ends fast."

Fear the Walking Dead premieres Sunday, August 23 on AMC.
