The start of the apocalypse is going to be perhaps the most terrifying thing that fans will see when Fear the Walking Dead begins its reign of terror in Los Angeles.

The show, which will show the action as the outbreak begins and then quickly starts taking over in L.A., will instill great fear in the city's residents as they start coming to terms with what is actually happening--and just how scary this new world will be.

A new poster for the show also shows just how scary it will be as people struggle to understand what's going on, especially as they continue living their normal lives, unaware of how the world will change drastically--and very soon.

In the image, two teen boys are seen in shadow, enjoying a basketball game in the same way normal teen boys would anywhere in the world on a sunny and warm afternoon. However, in the distance, a shadowy walker will begin to approach them--and things could quickly spiral out of control when they realize the danger they are actually in.

The concept of dangerous things will be--and how much it will initially be brushed off was hinted at in the first official full-length trailer for the show, which premiered at San Diego Comic-Con last week.

In the trailer, Nick (Frank Dillane) is the first of the main characters to encounter the truth, after a night of partying. When he wakes up from the crazy night, he sees everyone else who was with him dead--and finds the first walker who causes the destruction. As he runs away, he is hit by a car, landing him in the hospital. But when he tries to tell everyone what he has seen, no one believes him.

Fear The Walking Dead premieres August 23 at 9 p.m. on AMC.
