Drew Barrymore Comments on Johnny Depp-Amber Heard Trial – But Ends Up Apologizing

Drew Barrymore started her reflection after her "offensive" jokes about Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's defamation trial.

Barrymore used her show, "The Drew Barrymore Show," to share some thoughts about the high-profile Hollywood trial between Depp and Heard. She tagged the ongoing legal battle as "a seven-layer dip of insanity," which infuriated fans.

"It's like one layer of crazy, it's a seven-layer dip of insanity. I know that these are two people's real lives and I know what it's like to have your life put out in public. I understand all the feelings, but they are actually offering up this information that nobody had to know. This is crazy!" she said, as quoted by IndieWire.

She also mentioned the burnt body and Honda civic that the court recently talked about. A text message from the "Pirates of the Caribbean" star to Isaac Baruch in 2016 said that the actress ruined the cool life they had for a while.

He also wished her "rotting corpse was decomposing in the f-king trunk of a Honda Civic."

Deppheads and internet users immediately commented on her insensitive comment, saying that it is one of the reasons why men do not speak about abuse.

Drew Barrymore Apologizes Over Harsh Jokes

After being in hot waters, Barrymore offered her apologies and assured that she would grow and change it following the incident.

On her Instagram on Sunday, the 47-year-old host said she received messages about people she offended after making light of Depp and Heard's trial. With that, she sent her deepest apologies to fans.

"I can be a more thoughtful and better person moving forward because all I want to do is be a good person," she said. "This can be a teachable moment for me and how I move forward and how I conduct myself.

Depp and Heard's representatives have not commented on Barrymore's statement, yet.

As of this time, the defamation trial resumed and welcomed new witnesses to the stand, including Heard's ex-nurse and an expert witness.

The latter, Douglas Bania, was hired by Depp's legal team to share the truth about the actor's public perception after Heard published the op-ed. Per Bania, the article damaged Depp's standing as people started to like him less.

Meanwhile, Entertainment expert and lawyer Richard Marks told the jury that Disney refused to work with the actor again since it is a family-friendly brand.
