Apollo Nida of The Real Housewives of Atlanta has been sentenced to 8 years in federal prison for fraud.

Phaedra Parks Denies Her Involvement In Fraud

According to HLN, his wife Phaedra Parks was not there when U.S. District Court Judge Charles A. Pannell, Jr. handed Nida the sentence on Tuesday. Nida pleaded guilty to fraud in May on charges, including creating phony companies to steal victims' identities. The RHOA star reportedly went as far as getting an account with Equifax, LexisNexis and Microbilt databases to get victims' personal information. He was also said to have stolen retirement checks from Delta Airlines employees in the nearly $3 million scam.

U.S. Secret Service Special Agent Reginald Moore said Nida's sentence, "Exemplifies impartial justice regardless of economic class or perceived celebrity status. Nida's sentence should be an eye-opener for other like-minded criminals who scheme to steal victims' identities, defraud them and ignore the consequences of their actions."

Nida will also have to be under parole supervision for five years once his eight year sentence is complete. On July 17 he will find out how much restitution he will have to pay back to victims. He could have been behind bars up to 30 years, but his sentence was reduced greatly due to his cooperation with the federal government.

Federal agents began investigating Nida back in September after a woman claimed she was his "right-hand man." He had been arrested in January and was released on bail.

As for his wife, Parks, an insider said her biggest concern is their two sons, Ayden and Dylan.

The insider told Hollywood Life  on Tuesday, "Phaedra saw this coming and she and Apollo have known for a long time that he'd be sentenced. It's not a surprise to her. The only thing she's worried about is Ayden and Dylan growing up without their dad. She knows just how important it is for her children, and young black boys in general, to grow up with a father."

They added that he will miss important days like Dylan's first day of Kindergarten.
