Sons of Anarchy show runner Kurt Sutter is optimistic about the route the series is going with Jax (Charlie Hunnam) becoming the most "proactive" he's ever been.

Jax Has a 'Singular Purpose' In Sons of Anarchy Final Season

Sutter spoke with Zap2it at Comic-Con this weekend where he discussed Jax now being the one to incite chaos in the group while also discussing what was ahead for upcoming guest star Malcolm-Jamal Warner.

"Jax - for a good portion of the series - has been reacting to the chaos that's around him that was created by other people and trying to put things back together," Sutter explained. "And this season, he comes out and he's really the person who incites that chaos so it's a lot more fun to write for that character this season."

Sons of Anarchy Season 7 Premiere Date Set For Early September

The seventh season picks up 10 days after the events of the Season 6 finale, which featured Tara (Maggie Siff) being brutally murdered by Gemma (Katey Sagal). However, it is Jax that winds up going to prison, as seen in the promotional photo of Jax and guest star Marilyn Manson, who plays Ron Tully, a white supremacist/prisoner.

Turning to talk of Warner, Sutter revealed that the Cosby Show veteran will be in "two or three episodes" of Season 7, playing a member of the Grim Bastards. "That storyline is becoming very interesting," Sutter teased.

Sons has a slew of interesting guest stars this season. In addition to Warner and Manson, the series will also feature Courtney Love as a preschool teacher and Lea Michele as a truck stop waitress.

The final season of Sons of Anarchy is set to begin Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
