The final season of Sons of Anarchy is set to begin Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX, according to the network's announcement. The premiere episode is set to be a whopping one hour and 45 minutes long.

After the premiere, FX is airing the Sons of Anarchy after show, called Anarchy Afterword. This after show, hosted by frequent Chelsea Lately panelist Chris Franjola, will only take place after the season premiere and the series finale.

Jax Might Be Facing Death When Sons of Anarchy Returns

Anarchy Afterword previously functioned as a web-only series during Season 6.

With the announcement of Anarchy Afterword coming to television, FX is joining the "after show" game started by AMC with Talking Dead after new episodes of The Walking Dead and Talking Bad after new episodes of Breaking Bad, both of them hosted by The Nerdist's Chris Hardwick. A&E also has an after show for Bates Motel called After Hours, which aired after the Season 2 premiere and finale, respectively, hosted by Carrie Keagan.

As for what is set to go down when Sons of Anarchy returns, FX released a short plot synopsis to tease fans.

"Jax in jail on a parole violation, grappling with the loss of the woman he loved," the synopsis reads, via TVLine. "With the club's full support, he sets in motion the brutal machinations that will lead to complete and merciless retribution." The season takes places 10 days after the shocking murder of Tara Knowles (Maggie Siff).
