A former character from Reign is about to return with some surprising outcomes.

What Can Fans Do To Help Bring 'Reign' Back For A Third Season?

On Thursday, Entertainment Weekly announced that Amy Brenneman, who plays Mary de Guise, will be coming back in a future episode after speaking to executive producer Laurie McCarthy.

"We are very excited to welcome back Amy Brenneman as Mary de Guise in an episode airing next year," McCarthy told the magazine. "You never know what's coming with Mary de Guise, and this time will be no different as she delivers a series of shocking revelations to Mary, and ultimately forces her to face and confront her failing relationship with Francis."

'Reign' Is About To Kill Off A 'Very Large Character'

As if that's not enough, it looks like another woman in the royal drama is about to come across some enticing moments.

"And get ready to see how Mary inadvertently causes one of the ladies-in-waiting to experience something they've never experienced before!" McCarthy teased.

If the show continues to have exciting scenes like this, then perhaps it might be considered for a renewal after the second season ends. According to TV By The Numbers, Reign is at a tossup between cancellation and a renewal, meaning it could pretty much go either way.

Jane the Virgin and The 100 are also at a tossup while The Originals has a slightly better chance of being picked up for a new year.

Reign airs on Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
