Law and Order: SVU is back with a brand new ripped from the headlines episode that centers around the real life story surrounding the heavy scrutiny of presitgious university after a college student claims that she was raped.

'Law & Order: SVU' Picked Up For Another Season

The new episode Devastating Story centers on television host Skip Peterson's (Rob Morrow) interview with college student Heath Manning (Ally Loannides), who claims that she was gang raped in a fraternity house.

While the tragedy account of Heather's story brings national attention to the serious issues surrounding rape on campus, due to the fact that the case is built on accusations from different parties, Sgt. Benson and ADA Barba don't have enough evidence to build a strong case.

Which 'SVU' Actor Is Headed For Divorce?

In the sneak peek, which can be seen below, Heather claims that two guys at fraternity house held her legs while she was raped by members of the hockey team.

Twitter campaigns have begun to take over the Internet in hopes of having the fraternity kicked off campus.

The episode sounds familiar because the episode was inspired by a real life story that took place at Columbia University in New York City.

Emma Sulkowicz accused Paul Nungesser of rape and when the school refused to kick him out, she began carrying around her 50-pound mattress around campus as a symbol of her burden as a victim.

The story received national attention and even well known politicians and feminist leaders became eager to partake in Sulkowicz's movement.

Law and Order: SVU airs every Wednesday night at 9 p.m. on NBC. Viewers can watch a sneak peek of Wednesday night's new episode in the video below.
