Fans of SVU this surprise is for you. The verdict is in, NBC has confirmed that the hit show Law and Order has been renewed for its 17th season.

''Law & Order: SVU' Tackles Ripped From The Headlines Case On Female Gamers

On Thursday, the SVU official Twitter account announced that season 17 was in the works, and fans around the world will be seeing their favorite New York Detectives tackling more cases.

Viewers of the show have a lot to look forward to in the coming months. Aside from airing a new ripped from the headlines inspired episode next week, it was recently confirmed that there would be another Dick Wolf collaboration.

In January, TV Guide reported that due to much success, SVU, Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D. would be partnering up again for another crossover event.

Show runner for Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D. Matt Olmstead traveled to New York to meet with executive producer Warren Leight and he gave fans a little insight into the crossover event.

"There's a Ted Bundy-esque character who hunted in New York and hunted in Chicago, and it's the pursuit of a character like that," he teased.

While the details have yet to be set in stone, fans can expect to see another collaboration in the very near future.
